Cable Or Satellite Television: Which Is The Best?

Two different camps of people exist in this world. You will find those who are loyal to their cable television provider and those who have found satellite and become devoted followers. Which one of these services is really better though? If cable is outdated, why do so many people still swear by it? Does satellite really offer more to the subscriber, and what do they offer?
The reason that so many people still have cable is possibly because they grew up on the system. Even though satellite has been around for a while, it wasn't until recently that it really became a phenomenon. Most people remember having cable when they were younger, and most homes and apartments are "cable ready", which simply means that they have the wiring installed for cable. People think that cable is the easy choice since everything is ready to go.
Well, satellite is just as simple, and it doesn't rely on hardwiring to get the job done. Since satellite only uses the equipment in your home, on your roof, and orbiting thousands of miles above the earth, there is less chance of a malfunction. If the cable line is cut somewhere in your neighborhood, you will have to wait until the cable company makes the repair. If you had a problem with your satellite dish, the troubleshooting and repair can be done much faster.
Another benefit of satellite not relying on a cable system is that it is wide reaching and flexible. As long as you have a view of the southern sky, you will be able to get satellite no matter what area of the country you live. If you live in rugged terrain with few neighbors, the likelihood of having the cable company install lines just for your benefit are nil. This is one of the areas that satellite truly trumps cable; satellite can reach customer that cable never will.
The picture quality and the sound on satellite are superior as well. Everything is digital, which means the signals come in perfectly clear.
Of course, the reason that most people choose satellite over cable is the programming choices. Satellite subscribers will have hundreds of standard definition channels from which to choose. Quite a few of these channels are satellite exclusive as well. Those who fully embrace technology and have a nice HD television in their home will find that satellite offers well over a hundred high definition channels, which is far more than cable.
Satellite is also the leader in sports, and that is one of the reasons that cable is really starting to lose ground. With so many people who love sports, cable is steadily losing ground. Satellite television providers also consider their customer service to be just as important as the programming they have. Thus, customers find that they are treated well, which is something that many say the cable companies have been lacking.
When you examine the issue, there is really no question as to why satellite is better than cable.
